The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits explores the Wine and spirits of the world and includes a tasting in each class.
The program has been designed to provide vocational training in product knowledge for those employed in the drinks industry with basic knowledge of the broad range of international wines and spirits and is also very suitable for the interested consumer. This course is ideal for those requiring a good level of product knowledge, jobs skills and competencies in handling a global range or wines and spirits and provides a firm foundation for those in the trade and those consumers wishing to learn more about wine and label laws,tasting, describing wines and more.
If you are seeking a core understanding of wines, this qualification explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown. You’ll learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labelling terminology. A basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs will also be provided. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.
Participation in a one hour- multiple choice examination is required in the final session. A 55% pass mark is required in the final exam. We have a very good pass rate and our tutors work hard to help you succeed. Students will be well prepared to take part in WSET Level 3 Award in Wine, the flagship Industry qualification. As wine is tasted in all sessions, all participants must be 18 years of age in for licensing requirements.No prior wine knowledge is required. All classes are delivered in English therefore a good level of English is beneficial.Students completely new to wine and spirits study may wish to complete the Level 1 Award in Wines first. However, this is not essential.It is of benefit to read the provided text book prior to commencing the course.Full payment must be made two weeks prior to course commencement.
This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time, including 16 hours of classroom delivery time. All courses are inclusive of a study pack, wines and examination. Transfer to an alternative examination date will be considered under special circumstances (a full terms and conditions policy is available).If you do not attend a registered examination no refunds will be given and registration for a new exam will be charged in full.Re-sits for unsuccessful examinations will be offered throughout the year and a re-sit fee will be charged.
